| The economy is changing to a knowledge-based economy with two-thirds of all jobs requiring advanced skills training or a college education. Nationally, eight out of ten newly created jobs require a college education. In Indiana it is only one out of six. We need to address the Indiana "Brain Drain" so we can attract higher paying jobs to Indiana. For example, jobs in clean energy technology, design, manufacturing, and production. | |||
| Right now my top legislative priority is to decouple in-person school attendance with school funding. Local school boards should be making decisions about opening schools based what is in the best interest of the children and not based threats of funding cuts from the state legislature. After that I want to tackle our entire school funding formula to make it more equitable and effective. |
